I’m struggling with pricing — I either bid too high and lose jobs or too low and barely break even. How do you calculate your rates for excavation and grading work? Do you factor in equipment wear, fuel, transport, and insurance separately, or just use a flat hourly rate? Also, how do you adjust for site conditions like difficult access or rocky soil? I want to stay competitive but actually make a profit. Any estimating tips or formulas that work for you? Would really appreciate the business wisdom!
