G’day everyone.
Track width is a key design factor for compact excavators and directly affects jobsite performance.
A wider track spreads the machine’s weight over a larger area, lowering ground pressure.
This reduces sinking, rutting and soil compaction on soft ground, lawns or muddy sites, which is especially valuable for landscaping and residential work.
Narrow tracks allow access through tight gates, narrow alleyways and confined backyard spaces.
However, narrower tracks come with less stability and higher ground pressure, increasing the risk of sinking or tipping on uneven ground.
Selecting suitable track width needs to balance site access, ground conditions and stability.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution. It is important to match track dimensions to the actual working environment.
