New to Grading — Looking for Beginner Wisdom

I’ve been running heavy equipment for years but never spent real time in a motor grader. Now I’m about to start training on one for road maintenance work. What are the biggest challenges for a beginner? I hear steering and blade control take real finesse. Any tips on getting comfortable with the controls quickly? Also, what’s the best way to practice without tearing up the road? Would love some guidance from the grading veterans here!
